Whilst the Club is affiliated to and therefore insured by British Cycling, individual club members are not covered for third party liability. The Club therefore highly recommends members take out British Cycling membership (Ride, Race Silver or Race Gold membership comes with personal liability insurance cover) or another appropriate insurance policy.
Membership is due from the 1st April each year unless you join after 1st December, then your membership will include up to the start of the next membership year, plus the following membership year at no additional charge (eg if you join in January 2019 your membership will run until the end of March 2020).
Once membership expires, you will be notified by email, and must renew within 28 days otherwise you will be deemed no longer a club member and your details will be removed from the Club Management Tool.
All new membership and renewals should be applied for through the Swan Wheelers Cycling Club page hosted by British Cycling.
Members’ details will be held within the British Cycling Management Tool. Neither British Cycling or the Club will share your details with any third party.
All new subscriptions will be either accepted or rejected by the Membership Secretary. Any person whose application to join the club is rejected has the right to appeal in writing to the Club Chairman and Club Secretary.
All members agree to abide by the Club Constitution which can be found by visiting the Constitution and Committee page on the Club’s website.
When cycling with the Club during Club rides and events or when out cycling be it in races, sportives or training when wearing club kit we ask that you represent the club in the best possible way by respecting other road users and following the guidelines set out on the club's Rules and Riding Guide.
Members using the club's electronic platforms (including, Facebook, the member forum, WhatsApp) must abide by the Club's Acceptable Use Policy.
If you have exceptional circumstances whereby you cannot apply for or renew membership using the British Cycling website then please email the Membership Secretary directly stating why you cannot apply online.

The club stores membership information on the British Cycling Club Management Tool, this information will be shared with British Cycling who may send the occasional email update. You are able to unsubscribe from these updates at any time.
The information contained on this membership application form along within any other information obtained from you will be held and used for the following purposes
for maintaining records
to respond to any queries/questions that you have
to advise you of any events in which you may wish to participate in
to deal with any incidents involving you
to create anonymised aggregated information about members in order to secure funding for the club
to contact you regarding events, offers and opportunities available to the club by either post, email, on-line or phone (unless you have indicated that you do not wish to hear about these).
If you do not wish your information to be held in this manner, please advise the Membership Secretary in writing. Swan Wheelers Cycling Club does not share your data with anyone without your permission.
